Alternative accommodation is easily found in Cardiff. A vast number of hotels are located in the city centre or west of the University (across Bute Park) in Pontcanna. The city also has a variety of hostels located near the city centre for those inclined towards shared accommodation, several of which are quite nice (The River House Backpackers is consistently excellent).
